An Update Regarding K-5 Chromebooks

Posted Date: 07/30/26 (09:00 AM)

Dear Elementary Staff,

As we prepare for the 2026-2027 school year, we want to share an important update regarding the District's K-5 Chromebook program.

Beginning in September 2026, individually assigned Chromebooks for students in grades K-5 will remain at school and will no longer be sent home. Every student will continue to have an individually assigned Chromebook for use throughout the school day and each classroom will be equipped with a secure charging cart to ensure devices are charged and ready whenever instruction calls for them.

This decision reflects the district’s belief that technology should enhance great teaching, not replace it. Chromebooks remain an important instructional tool but they are just one of many resources that support student learning. Keeping devices at school ensures they are consistently available while allowing teachers to continue making thoughtful instructional decisions about when technology best supports learning.

The district remains committed to providing students with meaningful opportunities to use technology while also ensuring that classrooms are filled with discussion, collaboration, hands-on learning, reading, writing, and problem-solving.

Thank you for your continued professionalism and for creating engaging, balanced learning experiences for our students. We appreciate your partnership as we implement this change and look forward to another great school year.

Sincerely,

The Teaching and Learning Team
